Who wrote those? They sound familiar, but I'm not sure.

Hmmm, it had good potential but his writing style just doesn't make for a page-turner.

I just finished the wheel of time series, and while I wait for the last book to be published, whenever that'll be, one of my best friends can't stop raving about the sword of truth series. So I'll probably start reading it soon.

I've finished the Truth series some while ago and it was good. Though, in parts, it did drag a bit like during the explanations of magical theroy such as during the inverted web spell explanation. I would've liked to see more of an ending because there were some unanswered questions, but I think that's for us to inagine. However, if anyone has seen the recent series on tv based on the books...it isn't as good. The tv series doesn't follow the books accurately, but the script was gone over and approved by T.G., so I guess that' all that matters.

LOL, I didn't know there was a tv version...Hmm, I think I'll stick with the books. I've read and own everyone of them, and for me there the kind I can read over and over.

I just started the first one. I mean, it's good but it's not like hold your breath suspenseful or anything so far. I mean, I like it's interesting but yeah! I listened to a bit of the wheel of time, but it was so... fantastical that I couldn't keep up and I got bored. See I like the sword of truth and HP because they involve people. I'm not much for series where other creatures and such are a part of the main plot without being explained as to why they're there.

Haven't read it yet but want to. How many books are in the series?

I'm stuck, and can't get past chapter 10. To me, these books....I don't know. It's not that they drag, but they just aren't....suspenseful. It's weird.

I read the first book, it just didn't quite get me, good suspense but very tasteless violence and that turned me off the books. Tried reading number two but the lack of suspense killed me in the first 5 chapters and I haven't tried since.
Hopefully it is one of those series I pick up alter when I get bored and turns out to be good, or I hope so.
Wheel of Time is a complete masterpiece for my personal taste, I like the balance of plot and world building. Many people find that it drags hugely after book 7, I agree parts of books 8 and 10 drag seriously, the whole kidnapping plot is downright awful, but over-all these books are amazing, suspense, romance, clever dialog, brilliant plotting and the end is not near yet, we have hints of what will happen but nothing we can string together into a cohesive theory really, and Sanderson is hard at work writing the penultimate book.
I realize it is not for everyone and I liked LOTR and Harry Potter too (HP borrows a lot of ideas from WOT definitely, and I don't mean that negatively, since WOT itself borrows from a variety of genres), but anyone should give these books a try, especially books 2 through 5 are some of the best writings I have ever seen and I've read these now probably 8 times in about a year (use them to listen to while I work out, incidentally I am really getting into shape again, lol).

Neh. I'll try to get in to Sword of Truth again, but...
A really good book I've seen, I know it's off-topic, was Matthew Stover's novelisation of Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars III. That was just amazing, and was the first time I've seen someone write in a style similar to mine.
Anyway, if someone has a complete EBook set of Wheel of Time can I can I can I can I have it please please please please pleeeeeeeease?
lol I'm done.

Reading the searies now. I almost quit after the first one because there is some really nasty violence in it that I found disturbing, but I plunged ahead and am glad I did. I liked number 2 and 3 a lot. 4 and 5 weren't as good, but still entertaining. I'm in the middle of 6 right now and it's great. You can definitely tell that Goodkind is an Ayn Rand fan. There are parts of Faith of the Fallen that make me think I am reading Atlas Shrugged again. Very good stuff. Can't wait to see how this one ends. Hopefully I'll finish 6 this weekend so I can move on to 7.
